The Indie Celt was founded by archaeology graduate student, Amie Nolan Ryan, who hails from Kilkee, County Clare, Ireland. She has found a beautiful way to combine her love of the Irish heritage and her artistic talents to create a unique line of Irish crafts. Products include individually sewn and hand-painted pillows, hand-treated slate pieces and custom wall art, all displaying unique elements of Irish language and culture.
Much of Amie's work features Ogham, a stunning, ancient script which is the earliest form of Irish writing. It is still visible in Ireland today. Amie's pieces also focus on ornate Celtic lettering, such as that found in the Book of Kells, as well as old Irish sayings. Each piece is lovingly handmade, making it a special Irish wedding, anniversary or baby gift.
Amie now makes her home in the Chicagoland area with her family, but also maintains a studio in her County Clare, Ireland hometown. Regular visits help spark her Irish artisan creativity.
